Bloom's Taxonomy maps the levels of cognitive engagement from recall through comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation — a hierarchical model of understanding that has shaped educational assessment worldwide. The Sutras offer their own taxonomy of knowing: from pramāṇa (correct knowledge through testimony, inference, and direct perception) through viveka (discriminative understanding) toward direct realization. Both models share the recognition that surface familiarity and genuine understanding are not the same thing, and that most education stops well short of the higher levels.
Each step builds on the last.
