Parental love is one of the most powerful forces a human being contains, and one of the most complicated — it carries selflessness and possession together, terror and tenderness in the same breath. It is not uncomplicated just because it is fierce; the very depth of it creates the conditions for harm as well as for extraordinary good. Love this strong needs to be examined, not only felt.
