Nocebo effect

The nocebo effect is when belief in harm actually creates it—a symptom worsens because you expect it to, or a side effect appears because you've been told it will—revealing how powerfully the mind shapes the body. Recognizing this gives you agency: the same mechanism that can harm can also be redirected toward genuine healing.
