Civil disobedience

Civil disobedience is the deliberate, public violation of a law deemed unjust, undertaken with acceptance of legal consequences to appeal to broader conscience and expose the moral contradiction between a law and justice. It differs from violence or covert resistance because its power depends on visibility, restraint, and the willingness to suffer—making it a particular form of moral witness rather than a practical shortcut.
