Sor Juana became a master of careful speech—she could praise God while questioning doctrine, flatter authority while challenging it, and advance radical ideas within conservative forms. This wasn't dishonesty; it was a survival technique that also became an art form. She understood that fairness sometimes requires protecting truth from those who would suppress it.
