Implicit bias

Implicit bias is the unconscious association between groups and characteristics that lives in your mind even when your conscious values contradict it—learned through repetition, media, and cultural inheritance rather than deliberate reasoning. Recognizing it requires brutal honesty and repeated self-examination, because good intentions alone cannot override patterns encoded deep in perception.
