Queer as identity and politics

Both a sexual identity and a political stance that refuses fixed categories—queer can name non-normative sexuality or gender, and it can also describe a practice of questioning and destabilizing power itself. The term contains both intimate self-knowledge and radical refusal, which is why queer activism refuses to be domesticated into respectability.
