Social movements

Social movements are organized collective action aimed at changing power, institutions, or systems—from labor organizing to civil rights to environmental action—and they succeed by combining grievance with strategy, showing people they are not alone. They reveal that change is not delivered by benevolent leaders but seized by people willing to act together, sometimes at great personal cost.
