Naming Without Attachment

Label your FOMO triggers and anxiety patterns by name without judgment or resistance, allowing them to lose power through clear seeing.

Laozi
Why It Matters

The Tao Te Ching begins: 'The Tao that can be named is not the eternal Tao.' Yet Laozi also understood that we must name the ten thousand things to navigate the world. Applied to digital anxiety, this principle suggests: name your patterns clearly ('I check when anxious about productivity,' 'I scroll when lonely') but don't fight them. Naming without attachment means observing your FOMO patterns with the clarity of a naturalist, not the judgment of a critic. You notice: 'When I see others' accomplishments, I feel insufficient.' This seeing, done clearly and without resistance, already diminishes the pattern's grip. Most anxiety comes not from the feeling itself but from the story we tell about having the feeling. Laozi teaches meeting reality directly. When you simply name your digital anxiety without the meta-anxiety about being anxious, the charge decreases naturally. You see the mechanism, and in seeing, you're already free from its unconscious control.
