The Paradox of Yuga Duration

Taoist paradox applied to Hindu cosmic time: yugas expand and contract simultaneously, challenging linear Western time perception.

Why It Matters

Taoism embraces paradox—the Tao that can be named is not the eternal Tao. Similarly, yuga durations contain paradox: texts describe 4,800 + 3,600 + 2,400 + 1,200 divine years, yet subjective experience within each yuga feels timeless. Laozi would recognize this as the paradox of measurement: attempting to quantify cosmic cycles creates illusion. Modern consciousness experiences Kali Yuga as accelerated, while the same period contains eternal moments. The wise approach yugas not through calendar calculation but through recognition of their qualitative signatures: dharma's strength, consciousness's depth, technology's role. By embracing this paradox rather than resolving it intellectually, we access direct perception of where we stand cosmically.
