In algorithmic politics, reverse consensus means designing systems that detect convergence beneath apparent polarization. Algorithms designed for reverse consensus analyze not just what citizens say they support, but the deeper concerns motivating their positions. An algorithm might discover that citizens across political spectrums share anxiety about institutional responsiveness, and surface that common concern rather than amplifying disagreement. This doesn't erase genuine conflict but reframes it: from 'we want opposite things' to 'we value similar things and disagree on paths.'
