This practice requires understanding that not all computing work is equally time-sensitive. By mapping task urgency to energy source patterns, data centers can reduce reliance on coal and gas-fired power during demand spikes, instead leveraging wind and solar. The framework respects the Taoist insight that forcing action against natural rhythms creates waste and resistance. Temporal alignment treats the grid as a living system with its own patterns, requiring operators to listen and respond rather than impose uniform demands. This approach reduces both energy consumption and carbon footprint simultaneously.
