Temporal Wu Wei: Accepting the Uncontrollable Present

Release attempts to control time itself; FOMO dissolves when you stop fighting the irreversible flow of moments.

Laozi
Why It Matters

FOMO is fundamentally temporal anxiety: regret about the past, fear of missing the future, inability to be present now. Laozi teaches that time flows like water—unstoppable and uncontrollable. Resisting this creates suffering. Temporal wu wei means ceasing your struggle against the clock: you cannot attend every event, respond instantly to every message, or catch every update. This is not failure; it's the nature of time. When you align with temporal reality instead of fighting it, pressure dissolves. You stop treating your present moment as merely a stepping stone to something more important happening elsewhere. This radical acceptance of your temporal limitations paradoxically makes you more present and less anxious, because you're no longer battling the impossible.
