Framework for accepting that you cannot and should not know everything, see everything, or be aware of all events.
Laozi refers to 'the ten thousand things'—the infinite multiplicity of existence. FOMO's deepest lie is that with perfect curation and constant checking, you could theoretically know, see, and be aware of everything that matters. This is metaphysically impossible and psychologically destructive. The Taoist sage accepts the fundamental impossibility of total awareness: there will always be things you miss, events you don't attend, conversations you aren't part of, perspectives you never encounter. This is not a tragedy but a liberation. Attempting omniscience through technology is attempting to transcend human limitation, and it fails because the limitation is real and necessary. Accept that you will miss things. Accept that others will have experiences you don't. Accept that the world is genuinely larger than any individual's awareness can contain. This acceptance is not resignation but wisdom: it allows you to be fully present to the actual ten thousand things in your life rather than fragmented across all the infinite things you are missing. The peace of the Taoist path flows from embracing finitude, not fighting it.
