A practice of authentic spiritual commitment independent of social recognition, freeing you from performing identity for others' approval.
Mirabai danced before Krishna in ecstasy, unconcerned with observers or reputation—radical in a society obsessed with honor and appearance. Devotion without witness is the capacity to care for what truly matters regardless of who sees or validates it. When grieving lost identity, we often mourn the witness—the people who knew us in that role, who reflected us back, who gave our identity social reality. Bhakti teaches that authentic devotion needs no external validation. This practice invites you to identify what you love, what you serve, what moves your heart when no one is watching. Not for approval, not for coherent narrative, not to fit any image. Mirabai's freedom came partly from surrendering the need for her family's acceptance. By releasing identity-seeking behavior—the constant self-monitoring to fit others' expectations—you may discover what remains when performance stops. What do you love or care for that requires no witness? Can you tend that without needing others to see and validate it?
