The Examined Heart Practice

A meditative inquiry into the specific textures and origins of your anger, following Mirabai's model of unflinching self-knowledge within devotion.

Why It Matters

The examined heart is Mirabai's core teaching: look directly at what burns within, without flinching or transcending. This practice involves sitting with anger or grief and asking: What am I truly angry about? What freedom have I surrendered? What truth am I afraid to speak? Mirabai's songs are acts of public examination—she exposed her desire, her rage at patriarchal constraints, her refusal to perform false piety. The examined heart practice asks us to do the same privately, journaling, meditating, or speaking aloud the specific grievances we've swallowed. This is not catharsis for its own sake but the foundation of authentic spiritual work. Only by naming the rage underneath can we transform it into something sacred rather than letting it calcify into bitterness.
