Radical Honesty as Devotion

Mirabai's poems were radically honest confessions of desire, longing, and defiance, spoken directly to her beloved Krishna. She did not soften her truth for propriety. Radical honesty in love communication means expressing your authentic experience—your needs, fears, desires, and disappointments—without filtering through what you think should be acceptable. This is devotion because it honors both the beloved and the sacred nature of the relationship itself. Dishonesty, by contrast, treats the other as too fragile for your reality. True intimacy requires that you risk being fully seen. This doesn't mean speaking without compassion; rather, it means your compassion includes truthfulness. When you communicate honestly about your feelings, boundaries, and experiences, you're making an offering of your authentic self. This vulnerability invites reciprocal honesty and builds trust at the deepest level, transforming communication from performance into genuine encounter.
