In Sanskrit, kshana means moment and bhavna means contemplative feeling. On a grief anniversary, time collapses: the past loss is present-tense. Rather than diluting this intensity by planning ahead or ruminating about what-ifs, the practice is to land fully in the moment itself. This is what Mirabai did in her poems—she did not write about longing as a concept; she wrote from inside the longing, making the reader feel the sharp now of it. On your triggering date, this might mean: setting aside the entire day if possible, silencing distractions, and allowing yourself to feel what arises without narrating it or trying to fix it. Notice the physical sensations, the thoughts, the emotions as they occur. Sit with one moment at a time rather than trying to survive the whole day at once. The paradox is that full presence in grief—even terrible grief—often brings a strange grace, a sense of being alive and connected. Kshana-bhavna teaches that the moment fully inhabited is the moment we actually meet the person we've lost.
