Metta — Buddhist loving-kindness

Metta (loving-kindness) is the deliberate cultivation of goodwill toward all beings, starting with yourself and expanding outward, even to those who have harmed you—not because they deserve it, but because holding hatred costs you more than it costs them. It's a radical softening of the heart that doesn't require forgetting injustice, only releasing the grip of resentment.
