The Question as Sacred Inquiry

Asking genuine questions in relationships as acts of devotion that honor the other person's inner life and complexity.

Mira
Why It Matters

Mirabai's poems are filled with questions addressed to her absent beloved: 'Where have you gone? How can I find you? Why do you hide?' These are not rhetorical complaints but sacred inquiries that deepen her seeking. In Communication in love, questions asked with genuine curiosity and devotion transform dialogue. Rather than questions designed to prove a point or extract compliance, sacred inquiry comes from authentic wanting-to-know. It says: 'I honor your interiority. I want to understand your experience, your truth, your becoming.' This requires slowing down, releasing the urge to control outcomes, and genuinely receiving the answer. Mirabai's questioning kept her heart alive and open. In relationships, asking 'What is alive in you right now?' or 'What do you need that I cannot see?' becomes an offering of presence. The examined heart asks questions that invite deeper examination in the beloved.
