A reflective inquiry practice examining whether love relationships serve our growth or constrain it.
Mirabai's spiritual grandmother was Radha, Krishna's divine beloved, who asked the ultimate question: Whose love is this for? Is it for the beloved's ego, my own security, society's approval, or genuine devotion? Radha's Question becomes a mirror practice in bounded love. When we find ourselves contorting ourselves for a relationship, when we hide our truth, when we make ourselves smaller—we can pause and ask: Whose needs does this serve? Mirabai answered: My love is for the Divine. Everything else—family, marriage, reputation—became secondary. Her clarity protected her from relationships that would have diminished her. In modern practice, Radha's Question might be: Am I in this relationship for love or for fear of being alone? Am I preserving this connection because it's right or because I'm afraid of change? Do my boundaries protect my highest self or my ego? This inquiry practice is not about leaving; it's about honesty. Sometimes the answer is yes, this is true love worth the complexity. Sometimes it's no, I'm staying from habit or fear. Either way, honest answers clarify what boundaries we actually need.
