Sahaja: Effortless Authenticity in Relationship

The capacity to be genuinely yourself within love without performance or self-abandonment, the foundation of sustainable boundaries.

Mira
Why It Matters

Sahaja means natural, spontaneous, effortless—the state of being authentically yourself without pretense or performance. Mirabai embodied sahaja by refusing the roles assigned to her: widow, subject, proper woman. She danced, she sang, she loved openly. In relationships, boundaries enable sahaja by creating space where we don't have to perform versions of ourselves designed to please others. When we establish clear boundaries, we signal: I will show up as I am. Sahaja in love means the other person meets your real self, not a edited version. This requires boundaries around your time, energy, and emotional labor. From sahaja comes genuine intimacy—two authentic people meeting, not two people playing roles. Boundaries protect the conditions in which sahaja can flourish.
