Socratic irony

Pretending to agree with someone while asking questions that reveal the absurdity of their position—Socrates didn't invent this to win arguments, but to show people they were arguing with a contradiction. The irony is that this technique only works on people willing to be wrong, which makes it less a weapon and more a spiritual practice.
