Wild animal ethics

Wild animals didn't consent to existence and face constant suffering by design—starvation, parasites, predation—which raises an uncomfortable question: do we have obligations to reduce that suffering, or is "natural" a good enough excuse to ignore it? The practical tension lies in whether compassion toward wild creatures means intervention, restraint, or something we haven't figured out yet.
