Internal family systems

Internal Family Systems treats the psyche as naturally composed of multiple parts—protective managers, exiled child-selves, firefighter reactions—each with its own impulses and history, rather than viewing the mind as a unified thing that should have one coherent will. Healing happens when these parts can communicate and collaborate under the leadership of a grounded, non-reactive Self.
