Klesha — mental afflictions

Kleshas are the five primary mental afflictions in yoga philosophy—ignorance, egoism, attachment, aversion, and fear of death—that cloud perception and drive reactive behavior from beneath conscious awareness. Recognizing a klesha when it activates, rather than being swept along by it, creates the first real opening for choice and transformation.
