The framework for understanding that many current beliefs stem from past experiences and conditioning, not present reality.
Prarabdha karma refers to the portion of past actions and conditioning that manifests in your present life and shapes your current worldview. This concept explains why certain beliefs feel inevitable or hardwired: they're rooted in deep conditioning from your past. A belief that you're 'not good enough' might stem from childhood experiences or cultural conditioning; it feels true because it's been reinforced repeatedly. Patanjali's wisdom here is liberating: recognizing that a belief originates from past conditioning, not from present reality, creates distance from it. You can then ask: Is this belief still serving me? Do the original conditions still apply? This inquiry loosens the belief's grip. While you may not instantly erase prarabdha karma, awareness transforms your relationship to it. You stop taking limiting beliefs as statements of fact and see them as inherited patterns. This shift from identification to observation is where change begins, allowing you to gradually revise beliefs rooted in outdated conditioning.
