Childhood and nature

Children who spend time in nature—dirt under nails, risk, boredom, wonder—develop differently than those raised mostly indoors: more resilient, more resourceful, more at home in their own bodies. Nature isn't a supplement to real childhood; for most of human history, it was childhood.
