Love as Organizing Principle

Rabia al-Adawiyya taught that love of the Divine transcends fear of punishment or hope for reward—a pure devotion without transactional motive. In community organizing, this translates to mobilizing people around genuine care for collective flourishing rather than grievance, fear, or personal gain. When organizers root their work in love for the community itself, relationships deepen, trust compounds, and members stay committed through setbacks.
