Parenting from values not fear

When you parent from fear—terrified your child will be hurt, fail, or rejected—you tend toward control disguised as protection, which teaches them the world is dangerous and they can't handle it. Parenting from your actual values, by contrast, means asking what kind of person you're trying to grow and making choices aligned with that, even when it's harder.
