Pure Intention Audit

Reflective practice for organizers to examine whether their work serves community liberation or hidden agendas like personal advancement.

Rabia
Why It Matters

Rabia distinguished between loving God for reward and loving God purely—a distinction applicable to organizing. Pure Intention Audit is a regular practice where organizers examine their motivations: Are we organizing for community self-determination or to build our personal brand? Are we centering impacted people or centering ourselves? This involves honest reflection, peer accountability, and willingness to step back when personal ego becomes entangled with movement work. The practice might happen monthly in organizer circles, during campaign retrospectives, or when conflicts arise. By regularly examining intention, organizing teams maintain alignment with their stated values and prevent the corruption that occurs when leaders become invested in power for its own sake. This practice creates culture of humility where course correction is normal rather than shameful, strengthening the integrity of the movement.
