The Station of Trust in Divine Timing

Developing parental patience by releasing the illusion of control over adolescent development, trusting that maturation unfolds at its own pace.

Rabia
Why It Matters

Rabia spoke of 'stations'—spiritual developmental stages that cannot be rushed or forced. Each station has its own work and wisdom. Adolescence is itself a station with particular tasks: identity formation, peer belonging, separation from parents, and the beginning of autonomy. Many parents try to accelerate or shortcut this station, pushing teens toward maturity before its time or preventing the necessary individuation. This concept invites parents to release the fantasy that they control their teen's timeline. A parent cannot force a teen to be ready for responsibility, cannot speed emotional maturation, cannot prevent the necessary identity experiments. Instead, the parent can provide structure, safety, and presence while trusting that each teen will move through adolescence at their own pace. This doesn't mean passive parenting; rather, it means active engagement without attachment to outcomes. The parent becomes like Rabia—devoted and present, but ultimately surrendered to a timeline larger than individual will. This stance reduces parental anxiety and allows the teen to move through their station with less resistance.
