Trauma transmitted across generations

Trauma stored in a parent's nervous system doesn't need to be consciously taught to pass to their children; it lives in the voice, the body, the things left unsaid, and the child absorbs it as simply how the world feels. Breaking this transmission requires acknowledging what happened and feeling it differently than the generation before did.
