Love Without Condition or Expectation

Rabia al-Adawiyya taught that the deepest love transcends transaction—loving the divine without fear of punishment or hope of reward. In parent-teen relationships, this principle reframes how parents offer affection and support. Rather than love contingent on grades, obedience, or achievement, unconditional love creates psychological safety for adolescents navigating identity formation.
