Love Without Condition or Expectation

Rabia al-Adawiyya taught that true love seeks no reward and makes no demands—a radical reorientation toward the beloved for their own sake. In adoptive parenting, this concept transforms the parent-child relationship from transaction to gift. Adoptive parents often carry unspoken expectations of gratitude or seamless belonging; Rabia's framework invites releasing these.
