Gnosticism

Gnosticism holds that the material world is flawed or even evil, created by an inferior deity, and that salvation comes through secret knowledge of one's divine spark and its path home. Though ancient Christianity largely rejected it, gnostic intuitions—that the visible world doesn't exhaust reality, that true knowledge is hidden and transformative—resurface constantly across traditions.
