When adult siblings lose the ability to simply enjoy each other's company

My brother and I used to spend hours just talking and laughing when we'd visit each other, but now our conversations are all updates about work and logistics about family stuff and we never just... hang out anymore. We both keep our phones out during meals and cut visits short to handle emails, and I realize we've forgotten how to be siblings instead of just relatives managing our lives in parallel.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Adult relationships have become so focused on information exchange and life management that the simple pleasure of companionship has been forgotten.
