When research partnerships lose the spirit of Indigenous knowledge sharing

My research partner and I have been documenting traditional plant knowledge with elders in our community but we've gotten so focused on 'proper methodology' and academic standards that our conversations feel stiff and formal now, and I think we're missing the stories and connections that make this knowledge alive.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

The pursuit of academic legitimacy has drained the relational warmth from knowledge-gathering that was meant to honor living wisdom.
