When parent-teen relationships lose their shared humor

My teenage daughter and I used to have this running joke tradition and be ridiculous together but since she started high school everything feels like negotiation or conflict or awkward silence. I know she's growing up but I miss the easy laughter we used to share and I don't know if trying to get it back would just be me being clingy.
