When divorced parents disagree about teaching children fire skills

My teenage kids want to learn to build fires and do more outdoor cooking, and I want to teach them, but my ex-husband thinks it's too dangerous and keeps undermining my attempts to show them basic fire skills. We can't agree on what's age-appropriate or safe, and the kids are caught in the middle of our different approaches to risk and independence.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Two different philosophies of risk and learning are preventing children from developing essential life skills while creating loyalty conflicts.
