When diverse improv groups become self-conscious about cultural differences

Our improv group has performers from six different countries and our physical comedy exercises keep highlighting how differently we all use space, touch, and gesture, which is fascinating but also making us all hyper-aware and self-conscious. We're losing the flow we used to have.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Awareness of cultural diversity in physical expression is paradoxically inhibiting the very spontaneity it could enrich.
