When families struggle to get kids away from screens and into nature

Our kids spend their entire summer break inside gaming and watching screens while we're all working from home, and when we try to plan family outdoor activities everyone just complains and negotiates their way out of it. We end up feeling guilty about forcing nature on them but also watching them get more pale and irritable by the week, and my spouse and I keep having the same circular argument about whether to be the 'mean parents' who make them go outside.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Parents are caught between respecting children's preferences and knowing that everyone needs natural experiences to thrive.
