When environmental activism splits a friend group

Our neighborhood group formed to fight the developers who want to clear-cut the woods behind our houses, but now we're split between the people who want to chain themselves to trees and the people who think we should work within the system. Every meeting turns into the same argument and nobody's laughing anymore and I'm wondering if we're going to destroy our friendships trying to save these trees.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

The urgency of protecting trees has made the group forget that sustainable change requires sustainable relationships.
