When informal learning groups develop unwanted teacher-student dynamics

I started a philosophy discussion group with some friends six months ago and it's become clear that I unconsciously positioned myself as the teacher even though that wasn't the intention, and now I don't know how to step back without the whole thing falling apart. Everyone looks to me to guide the conversations but I want us to all be learning together and I'm not sure how to change the dynamic I created.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Someone who initiated a peer learning group is realizing they've unconsciously assumed a teaching role that prevents genuine collaborative inquiry, but fears that changing this dynamic might destabilize the group.
