When parent and child share mental health struggles

My teenage daughter and I are both dealing with depression and sometimes I don't know if I'm helping her or if we're just sinking together. I want to be honest with her about mental health but I also worry that my own struggles make me less able to be the parent she needs.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

The desire to be authentic about shared suffering conflicts with the need to maintain the stability that healthy parenting requires.
