When sharing memories in a group changes what you remember

Three of us started a book club to process childhood memories together, but we're realizing that talking about the past is actually changing how we remember things, and now I can't tell which memories are mine versus stories I've absorbed from them. It's becoming confusing instead of clarifying.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

The very act of collective remembering is altering individual memory, creating uncertainty about what actually belongs to each person's experience.
