When immigrant families navigate conflicting cultural obligations

Our family immigrated here when I was young and now that my grandparents are getting older my parents want us to follow certain traditions for caring for them, but my siblings and I have different relationships to our culture and different resources and it's creating tension about what we owe each other. We love our grandparents but we're struggling with expectations that feel both sacred and impossible.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

Heritage creates bonds and burdens that each generation must renegotiate without losing what matters most.
