When community mutual aid groups become unbalanced

Our neighborhood group formed during COVID to help each other out and it was great at first, but now some people are still asking for a lot of help while others have stopped participating and there's this weird tension where no one wants to say anything. We're all just quietly resentful and the group is falling apart.

More people experience this than they realize.

What we've seen

The informal social contract that held the group together has shifted, but no one knows how to renegotiate it openly.
