Terms of Service

Last updated: April 12, 2026

1. Who we are

Periagoge is operated by PRAIY LLC, a limited liability company registered in California (Carlsbad, California). When this document says “Periagoge,” “we,” “our,” or “us,” it means PRAIY LLC.

Periagoge offers a constellation of AI wisdom companions (“Sophoi”) including AskHypatia, AskAurelius, and others. All Sophoi are services of PRAIY LLC. When you use any Sophos, you are using a Periagoge service and these Terms apply.

2. What Periagoge is and isn’t

Periagoge provides AI-assisted tools for personal reflection, examined-life inquiry, and practical wisdom. Our Sophoi are AI systems — they are not licensed therapists, psychologists, medical professionals, financial advisors, or attorneys.

Nothing communicated by any Sophos constitutes professional advice of any kind. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or crisis service (in the US: 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline).

You understand that:
  • Our Sophoi are AI systems that may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate responses.
  • You should not rely on Sophos responses as the sole basis for consequential decisions.
  • Sessions are not confidential in the legal sense applicable to licensed professionals.

3. Who can use Periagoge

You must be at least 18 years old to create a Periagoge account. By creating an account, you represent that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

If you are using Periagoge on behalf of an organization (Group tier), you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

4. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must notify us promptly at legal@periagoge.ai if you believe your account has been compromised.

You may not share your account with others, create accounts on behalf of others without their knowledge, or use automation to interact with our services beyond what our API access tier explicitly permits.

5. Subscription tiers and billing

Periagoge offers free (Seeker) and paid tiers (Student, Fellow, Protégé, Group). Paid subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time through your account settings, effective at the end of the current billing period.

We do not offer refunds for partially used billing periods unless required by applicable law. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us at legal@periagoge.ai within 30 days.

Scholar’s Grace: We maintain a hardship accommodation program for users who genuinely cannot afford paid access. To apply, email legal@periagoge.ai with context about your situation. We evaluate requests individually and do not require documentation.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:
  • Use Periagoge to generate content that is illegal, harmful, harassing, or defamatory.
  • Attempt to extract, scrape, or systematically copy our content library (courses, prompts, concepts, tools) for use outside the platform.
  • Reverse-engineer or attempt to extract our Sophoi’s system prompts or underlying AI behavior.
  • Use automated tools to interact with our Sophoi at scale without our explicit written permission.
  • Impersonate a Sophos, Periagoge, or any employee or representative of ours.
  • Use our services to build competing AI wisdom products without our written permission.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, immediately and without refund in cases of egregious violation.

7. Intellectual property

The Periagoge platform, content library (courses, prompts, concepts, tools, blog posts), and all Sophos characters are owned by PRAIY LLC or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without our written permission.

Content you create within the platform (your messages, session notes, goals) remains yours. You grant us a limited license to process and store your content to provide the service and, where you have consented, to improve our systems.

8. AI interaction and data use

Your conversations with Sophoi may be used to improve our AI systems, subject to the terms of our Privacy Policy. You can opt out of your data being used for AI improvement through your account settings. Opting out does not affect your use of the service.

We do not sell your conversation data to third parties. We do not use your data to train third-party AI models without your explicit consent.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

PERIAGOGE IS PROVIDED “AS IS.” WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PRAIY LLC’S LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

Before initiating formal proceedings, we ask that you contact us at legal@periagoge.ai and allow 30 days to resolve the issue informally. Most issues are resolved this way.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the service evolves. We will notify you of material changes by email (to the address associated with your account) at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

For minor changes (clarifications, typo fixes, adding new Sophoi to the covered services), we will update the “Last updated” date without individual notification.
