Do I work for my customers or for the company's revenue?
It is an honest question, and the fact that you are asking it means you already sense the two are not always the same. You are paid to grow revenue and you are there to serve people, and most days those goals walk together. It is the days they split apart that tell you who you really work for. You do not have to choose an absolute answer to be at peace. Revenue is not the enemy; it keeps the lights on and pays you fairly. The danger is only when the number becomes the whole point and the person becomes a means to it. Keep the order right: serve the person, and let the revenue be the result of doing that well, not the reason you do it. Test it in practice this week. Notice one moment where the customer's real interest and the company's number point in different directions, and choose the customer, even in something small. That choice, made once and then again, is how you answer the question with your actions instead of your worry.
